Glacier National Park has implemented a new ticketed-entry system for private vehicles to enter Glacier National Park including accessing the scenic Going to the Sun road, Two Medicine, Many Glacier and Polebridge entrances, located inside Glacier. This is the third year with the vehicle reservation system, which requires a $2 ticket in addition to your National Park Pass to enter Glacier from May 27th- September 11th, and must be purchased in advance.

This year 2023, they will also require a ticket to access every entrance inside the park including Bowman/Kintla Lakes past Polebridge Ranger Station (any trails after the entrance) Camas Road Entrance on the North West side of the park, Many Glacier Entrance and Two Medicine Entrance on the east sides of the park from May 27th-September 11th, 2023. Tickets go on sale starting February 1st, 2023. East Glacier Entrance via St. Marys will require a Going to the Sun reservation ticket starting July 1st, 2023.
Please note: Should you not get a vehicle reservation ticket: You can still access any park entrance before gates open for the day (6:00am) and after they close for the day (3:00pm) without a ticket. You can also access the East side of the park entrance with no vehicle reservation ticket up to July 1st, 2023. You can also hike or bike through any entrance without a ticket.
Important Note: These tickets do not guarantee you a parking spot at Logan’s pass or any public parking inside the park. Expect crowded parking and full lots at Logan’s pass and Avalanche Lake/Cedar of the Trails hike. You will want to plan for a very early or much later day if you wish to park at these locations.
Everyone is required to have a National Parks Pass to enter any entrance of the park. You can purchase these in advance or when you arrive to the park.
How to get your tickets:
Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor Vehicle Reservations are valid for three consecutive days and have a processing fee of $2. Vehicle reservations are available in advance online at Recreation.gov (Vehicle Reservations), Recreation.gov app, or the Recreation.gov Call Center (Reservation Line: 877-444-6777). They are not available for purchase at the park.
- There is a limited number of Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor Vehicle Reservations available for each day and demand will exceed supply. Vehicle reservations will be released on Recreation.gov (Vehicle Reservations), beginning February 1, 2023 at 8 am Mountain Time.
- New for the 2023 season, vehicle reservations will be available through two types of booking windows. A portion of reservations will be available approximately 120-days in advance, using a block-release system. The first block of advanced reservations will go on sale through Recreation.gov at 8 am Mountain Time on February 1, 2023. This round of reservations will be available to enter the Going-to-the-Sun Road for May 26 through June 30. The next release will occur on March 1, 2023 for July 1 through July 31 followed by a release on April 1, 2023 for August 1 through August 31. On May 1, 2023, reservations will be available for all areas for September 1 through September 10.
- The remaining vehicle reservations will be released on a rolling basis at 8 am 24-hours in advance (e.g., remaining vehicle reservations for July 1 are available on June 30).

There is also a YouTube video that explains in detail how to reserve your ticket.
Important info for 2022: This year there will be road construction inside the West Entrance of the park. The West Entrance of the Going to the Sun road will not be accessible before 6am due to this construction. You should be able to access the Camas Creek North West Entrance to get you in before 6am, should you not have a reservation ticket. You can also access the East Entrance of the park before 6am. Note: This is a 2.5 drive from our property. Very manageable, but plan accordingly should you not have a ticket. We are awaiting on any news to update road status and construction for the 2023 year.
Should you not get a vehicle registration ticket on the 120 day mark, you can try again for the 24hour tickets. Please note: Cancellations happen, so continue to try for your dates in advance and there are also tickets that do open up for the 24hours time frame. You can also access the West entrance gate before 6am or after 3pm to drive the Going to the Sun road up to Logan’s pass. Montana offers long summer days. Meaning, we don’t get dark until 10pm. Plenty of time to see the sights of GNP in the afternoon including short hikes inside the park.
An alternative ticket, you can purchase an activity inside the park for the day. This will come with access to the Going to the Sun Road and a free reservation ticket. I.e. Boat tours, Horseback Rides
If you are going for big hikes inside the park, please plan accordingly and arrive early. If you do not have a vehicle pass, this will need to be before 6am.
Reclusive Moose Cabins and Glacier View Chalet are located outside the park entrance and NO tickets or passes are required to access our property. A bonus, we are not far from the Camas Entrance gate, should you need an alternative entrance.
We highly recommend that you reserve your tickets in advance. You will also need to purchase a parks pass along with this new additional ticket.
